My paintings reflect my deep love and respect for nature—the earth, water, sky, plants, and animals of this world—to the stars and universe beyond.  From my early childhood, my geologist father led our family on explorations into the wilderness where we discovered interesting rock formations and camped out under the stars.  The power, beauty, and spirit of our natural world became an integral part of me and a constant source of inspiration for my artwork.  In my paintings I try to express the radiant spirit I feel and see in my subjects, giving them a luminous aura of light, space, and depth.  By conveying both the beauty of nature, and my love for it, I hope to inspire others to honor and preserve it.

Marjorie Layman I have been painting with watercolors, acrylics, and oils since 1986—outdoors and in my studio—and currently exhibit in the Boston and greater New England area.
